Hello Kate, The Pedigree Award system gives a prize to each No.1 the male and the female. I think, it is not "Best of breed" in case of this system strictly. Best male dog or Best female dog!? I have not seen this male dog My dogs have NOT WON this female dog by Japanese judges ~Noriko Please click "GROUP" If you want to see breeds. www.jkc.or.jp/modules/events/index.php?content_id=1524Group~Dachshund~ www.jkc.or.jp/modules/events/index.php?content_id=185WOW!!! This KL dog campaigned full for one year by an excellent all breed professional handler. (The handler shows the other breed dog also in Westminster.) Pedigree Award's winning dogs are exhibited to a lot of dog shows. I sometimes only go to the dog show. My dogs are without relation to Pedigree Award system. I cannot go to over 100 dog shows held at every weekend for one year. Japanese KS is miniature bloods. If the size of the dog is very small, the dog is changed to kaninhen. Do you think that this method is a breeding method as for a good quality dog? I do not understand kaninhen breeding. In Asia International CACIB Dog Show on April,Croats judge chose KS to the Group first. I will look for the dog's picture. ~Noriko Please click "GROUP" If you want to see breeds. www.jkc.or.jp/modules/events/index.php?content_id=1524Group~Dachshund~ www.jkc.or.jp/modules/events/index.php?content_id=185I'm a little bit in a shok about Japan's KS (kaninhen) dachshunds so funny dog Sorry, for my words

Noriko: I agree with you the standard smooths are not very good confirmation wise. The standard longhairs don't look too bad. Joyce Warren

I agree, it would be interesting to know how the Standard Longs are bred, does anyone know their pedigrees?

Hi franskmann, This prize is given to the dog that won at a lot of dog shows. Therefore, these dogs were excellently evaluated, and got a lot of BOB from a lot of judges. Maybe...They have the boast and confidence in own dog. They are very famous kennels in Japan. They breed for the dog has got excellent prizes. I will go to other countries for my dogs' breeding ~Noriko

Hi Joyce, Maybe...Dogs imported from the United States are these dogs' bases. This is a current Japanese situation. I like American dachshund very much!! I would like to learn a lot of dachshund from wonderful breeders like you. September this year, the American breeder judges will judge dachshunds in specialty shows in Japan. I am looking forward to their judgments ~Noriko
